Need For Speed
Underground 2 is a cross-platform racing video game and the 18th chapter in the
Need for Speed series, the primary sequence to Need for Speed Underground. It
was announced by Electronic Arts in 2004, to Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2,
Xbox, PlayStation Portable, and mobile phones. Like its antecedent, it was also
commercially victorious, selling about 11 million copies global and breaking
selling records in the United Kingdom.
The game requires
tuning cars for street races, continuing the Need for Speed Underground
storyline. Need for Speed Underground 2 gives amazing new features, like
broader customization, different methods of deciding races, the explore style
in a big city known as "Bayview". The City Mid was based in
Philadelphia, Beacon Hill was based on Beverly Hills, and Coal Harbor was based
in Camden, New Jersey, also the Stadium field was based on Paul Brown Stadium in
Cincinnati. Brooke Burke is the sound of Rachel Teller, the person that leads
the player during the game. The game's storyline is performed in a comic book
strip.
The game has been
ported to PlayStation Portable, beneath the name of Need for Speed Underground
Rivals. The Nintendo DS port introduces a unique feature in which the player
can design custom decals to enhance any vehicle in the game. The game was
obeyed by Need for Speed Most Wanted in 2005, featuring a plot irrelevant to
the Underground games.
The story starts after
the player has defeated Eddie and his street gang - "The Eastsiders"
on with Melissa in Olympic City and is presently honored as the best street
racer in Olympic City. Behind a race, the player is called by an unknown man
with an "invitation" to join his team and that he "is not taking
no for an answer." The player terminates the call without answering and
starts driving to a party but is ensnared by a Hummer H2 that rams his Nissan
Skyline GT-R, wrecking it. A man with a scythe tattoo on his hand calls to
verify that he "took care of a difficulty."
Six months later, the
member boards a plane to Bayview among a good luck symbol from Samantha that
also applies to her colleague, Rachel Teller. The player comes in Bayview,
purchases his first car using the money given by the insurance on his totaled
Nissan Skyline, and begins racing over. The player quickly gets fame and
sponsorship deals from winning races and gets the awareness of "The
Wraiths" and their leader, Caleb Reece. Caleb is shown to be the driver of
the Hummer that destroyed the player's car in Olympic City.
Rachel reveals to the player that Caleb is attempting to take control of the racing scene in Bay view by manipulating the sponsorship deals in his favor, threatening the player's livelihood, and Rachel's liaison with the sponsors. Caleb tries to have the player miss an Underground Racing League tournament by winning Nikki Morris, a Wraith member, in the related tournament as the player. This ultimately fails, and Nikki moves the Wraiths after Caleb scolds her for dropping; she later enters Rachel and the player's side. Nikki reminds them of the importance of Caleb's plan if he gets over the city's street racing scene.
Despondent to hold the player, Caleb ultimately places all of the remaining Wraiths members in an Underground Racing League tournament corresponding to the player, which loses and after losing another sponsor, Caleb challenges the player to a crisis. The player accomplishes the race and glorifies Rachel and Nikki while Caleb is moved broken and defeated. That competition joins the player's status as the best Underground racer in Bayview.
Racing modes are
harshly similar to Underground one racing convention was left, this implying
the Knockout competitions. A Lap Knockout choice is possible when racing the
circuit without career races.
A circuit race is an
official race that includes up to four cars driving about a track that loops
back to the start line of itself. A circuit race has typically at least 2
rounds to a high of 5 rounds.
A sprint race starts
from one point to another point race involving a maximum of four vehicles.
Drifting is one of the
special phases of Underground 2. At the "parkade" track, the player
drifts with up to 3 other opponents at the equivalent time on the parkade
tracks. Points are given when the player, fortunately, slides the car and ends
each drift without hitting any walls or traffic. No nitrous oxide is allowed.
There are also downhill drift matches anywhere the player drifts the car while
progressing under the route from top to bottom. During the downhill drifts,
there are no additional racers, still, there is normal city traffic. Players
improve their points by sliding beyond city cars.
Drag racing is a
different technical phase of the game a straight lane race that requires
players to utilize a manual transmission. Like Underground, steering in this
mode is explained to simply admit for lane changes, while the game controls the
steering with the lanes. The HUD in that mode is expanded and presented on
either side of the screen indicating monitoring them, especially the tachometer
and the engine's temperature. The players' locations will become forfeited if
they crash into traffic or obstacles, or overheat their engine due to continued
redlining.
Street X mode is
related to circuit races, besides that, they get a place in closed and tight
tracks. A maximum of 4 racers competes in this match. As drift mode, this mode
disables the use of nitrous oxide.
